The Story So Far…
There are so many Greek rock bands out there that already made you bang your heads really hard such as Planet Of Zeus, Nightstalker, Full House Brew Crew, 1000Mods among others. But are you ready for a well-hidden gem that will blow your speakers?
Ladies & gentlemen, the new riff gods hailing from Athens, Greece are here to crush you! Be prepared for Black Stone Machine, a fantastic blend of metal, blues, country and southern rock has been delivered to you right now!
If you are yourself a fan of bands like Black Label Society, Motörhead, Metallica & Pantera and that groove and heaviness mix is your favorite one, add a little bit of bluesy guitar wizards such as BB King & Joe Bonamassa in their unique atmosphere and you have what Black Stone Machine is all about!
Formed by Alex S. Løbø (vocals/guitars) & George Droulias (guitars) in 2019 and under the guidance of Dime ST (Dream Devoid, Amalphi) in production, mixing & mastering, they soon entered at the Feedback Sound Studios (Dark Nova, Memorain, Dream Devoid) to release their debut EP “Black Stone Machine”. The cover art of the release has been created by Bewild Brother (Ministry, Silverstein, The Devil Wears Prada). The media welcomed the release, praising Black Stone Machine as the new hope of heavy rock coming from Greece!
2020 finds the band releasing another EP, entitled “House Of Lies”, having once again Dime ST behind the recording/mixing desk, with the mastering being done at the famous Athens Mastering Studios by Chris Hatzistamou (Necromantia, Horrified, Leash Law) while the cover art made by Daniel Goudelis (Innermost, Straighthate). “House Of Lies” was the predecessor for the band’s first full length album, “Crossroads”, which also released later in the same year like the previous releases by Someone Shaved My Ass Productions, while the limited – 200 copies – vinyl version of the album released by Ikaros Records.
“Crossroads” featuring guest appearances by Argy Galiatsatos (Nightstalker), Obel (Building Chaos), Thanasis Timblalexis (Dendrites) & Nondas Emmanouel (Rusty Bonez). The production was once again by Dime ST while Yiannis Christodoulatos (Nightfall, Acheron, Thou Art Lord) made the mastering at SweetSpot Productions. The cover art once again made by Daniel Goudelis. The band also released a video clip for the song “No Backup Plan”. Moreover, the band embarked a Balkan tour in order to promote the new album on stage.
On 2021 the band returned with the EP “One With The Horde”, once again released by Someone Shaved My Ass Productions, where you can find Babis Papanikolaou (Planet Of Zeus) & Vagelis Karzis (Full House Brew Crew, Wolfheart) appearing as special guests in the song “Rickenbastard 4004”, which was also the lyric video for this release. Once again, the band worked with Dime ST & Daniel Goudelis while the new entry was Steve Lado (Tardive Dyskinesia, Sacred Outcry, Memoriam) handled the mastering. Shortly after the release of the EP, Black Stone Machine announce the “Invasion Of The Horde” Balkan Tour for the promotion of the new release.
Moving forward to 2023, with new members bassist Panos Mourtzinos (ex-Sunlight) & drummer Joni Moas (ex-SlavEATgod), the band entered the Devasoundz Studios to co-produce alongside with Fotis Benardo (Rotting Christ, Nightfall, Nightrage) their fourth EP entitled “The Guild Of Black”, which co-released by Alcyone Records & Someone Shaved My Ass Productions on Febuary 16th, 2024. The mastering duties handled by George Nerantzis (Pain Of Salvation, Dark Funeral, Nightrage) while the cover art made by Daniel Goudelis. The band released also a video clip for the track “Jaguar Fever”.
Currently the band is on the recording process of their second, yet untitled, full length album which is expected to be released by the fall of 2025.
Throughout the years the band managed to share the stage with acts like 1000Mods, Nightstalker, SixForNine, Scar Of The Sun among others.
