The Story So Far…
Formed in 2009 in Athens, Greece, Sunlight began as a hard rock/heavy metal project.
Their 2011 self-financed EP, “Rockin’ All Around”, received enthusiastic responses in Greece and enjoyed a warm reception in Japan, where it was distributed by Rock Stakk Records.
This debut release previewed tracks from their forthcoming full-length album, “My Own Truth”, which has been released worldwide in 2015 by Total Metal Records, a division of Metal Scrap Records Inc.. The album achieved critical acclaim and fueled successful tours across Europe.
Transitioning to a melodic heavy/power metal style, Sunlight entered the Devasoundz Studios in Athens, Greece in June 2019 to record their second album “Son Of The Sun”, under the guidance of renowned producer Fotis Benardo (Nightfall, Rotting Christ, On Thorns I Lay) while the mastering handled by George Nerantzis (Pain Of Salvation, Nightrage, Dark Funeral). Despite facing challenges from the pandemic and line-up changes, the album was completed in December 2023. Now it’s time for Sunlight to shine again!
To maintain momentum in the meantime, the band presented a video cover of Deep Purple’s classic “Child in Time”.
Sunlight are ready for a compelling return to the stage, unveiling their evolved sound now that the album will be soon released. More information about it coming really soon!
Now, with a revitalized line-up, featuring founding members Makis Kaponis (guitars, backing vocals) & Panos Anastopoulos (keyboards), the band welcomed in its ranks singer Mike Karasoulis (Demoralize, ex-SL Theory, ex-It’s All About The Music), bassist Manos Karachalios (Stygian Path, ex-Deified) & drummer Andreas Kalogeras (Oathswan, ex-Rhodium).
As the part of the whole transitioning, the band also worked with Shane Rice (Mythosphere, Ex Libris) to renovate their logo while Gustavo Sazes (Firewind, Soilwork, Epica) has been selected to create the album cover art.
